April 20th - Board Drive & Raffle

Along with the Ottawa Skate Association, the Ottawa Longboarding Community welcomes you to come and donate it for a great cause!

✨ Donate your pre-loved skateboard gear and receive a raffle entry for epic prizes!

🛹 We are accepting decks, trucks, bearings, nuts, helmets and safety gear.

✌️ Every donation helps us build new skateboards for our Learn to Skate and For Pivot's Sake social programs.

April 27th - New Riders Workshop & Lessons

Mark it on your calendars! Saturday April 27th the first "All Riders" community event of the year. The Ottawa Longboard Community will be holding a New Riders Workshop from 1PM-4PM @ Brantwood Park!

Do you want to start longboarding around town for a weekend activity for a more exciting form of exercise, or are you hoping to get in to a different style of boarding but you haven't had the chance to try a different style of board before?

Our workshop will have a section for Beginner lessons to get you comfortable on a board led by@concretecruisers, freestyle & dancing lessons led by@docksessionottawa, surfskate lessons led by@whitetail.skateboardsriders surfskateottawa and@surfskate_mom, as well as downhill & sliding lessons run by@ottawa_downhill_longboard

Boards will be provided for beginners who don't have one, and we recommend the use of protection ⛑ during the activities. It is required to have a helmet to participate in the downhill training. We bring the boards, you just bring the desire to learn!

If you want to enter the raffle for prizes, we will be doing a food drive for@ottawafoodbank. The second slide will show the list of items most requested.

May 2024

May 11th - Critical Mass Morning Ride

We'll be joining the cyclists with Critical Mass for a cruise through the streets of Ottawa in an effort to show the benefits of street closures for physical activity of all types, and advocate for more active transportation routes.

For riders who want a shorter ride, we will be meeting at Sylvia Holden Park, just outside of Lansdowne Park, for the final 3 KM stretch of road up the QEW towards City Hall at 10:30AM.

For riders who want a longer ride, we will be meeting at the Canadian War Museum at 10AM and riding through the streets of Ottawa for a ride that will be at least an hour long, so be prepared for some LDP practice!

May 26th - Constance Bay (Concrete Cruisers)

Womens Only Ride

Start the year the same way we finished it last year with the Concrete Cruisers. The crew will be headed back to Constance Bay Beach once more to do a beach clean and sesh before the summer gets hot. Make sure not to miss this one!

July 28th - Nature Trail - Go Fast

The second of 4 races in the 'Go Fast Series'.

This is a beginner-moderate difficult bicycle path race that will test your abilities to slide and grip corners at decent speeds (30-45km/h) (sliding required)

Prizes: OF COURSE ! Thanks to Landyachtz, Top of the World and more TBA, also earn yourself a photo op on the Ottawa Longboard Community podium, and series points for all racers.

Meeting spot: Philemon Wright High School - backside parking lot

When: Sunday July 28th

Time: 11AM

Who: Longboarders with at least some experience downhill longboarding, looking for close and fast heats with the homies.

Details: The downhill community prides themselves on safety. Helmet and Gloves are mandatory for downhill events during warmup and race heats.

There is protective equipment available if you do not have your own, thanks to our generous community members and brand sponsorhips.

July 28th - Wakefield Skatepark (Concrete Cruisers)

May 13 - Pathway Series Race: Backside Bloc

The second of 5 races in the 'Pathway Series'.

This is a beginner-moderate difficult bicycle path race, that is perfect for homies looking to get better and experience a more realistic high octane downhill experience, as well as continuing to gather series points.

Prizes: OF COURSE ! Thanks to Landyachtz, Top of the World and more TBA, also earn yourself a photo op on the Ottawa Longboard Community podium, and series points for all racers.

Meeting spot: Relais Plein air du parc de la gatineau

When: Saturday May 13th

Time: TBD

Who: Longboarders with beginner downhill experience (sliding required), looking to race in fast paced close heats or Spectators of any level.

Details: The downhill community prides themselves on safety. Helmet and Gloves are mandatory for downhill events during warmup and race heats.

May 21 - Skate and Explore: Cruise

First official skate and explore cruise!

We will be following a planned route.

We will be leaving from the starting location at 2PM before we head to spot #2!

August 26th - Skate & Explore: Cruise

This is our final cruise of the summer, time to put all of your hard earned stamina to use! We will be starting at Lansdowne park, riding up along the canal to the Somerset St. footbridge and cross over to the Ottawa University Courtyard and going up through the heart of Ottawa in the Byward market before crossing up to the museum and majors hill park in order to ride the Ottawa River pathway to our destination (pending construction ending) Find the map here

Meet at Lansdowne for 1PM on Saturday August 26th, we will be leaving for Chaudiere falls @ 2PM and arrive for 3:30PM!

August 27th - New Riders Workshop

Join the Ottawa Longboarding Community in our second New Rider Workshop to finish off the hot months and get you riding in the cooler fall weather

Where: Brantford Park (End of Clegg st.)

When: Sunday August 27th @ 12PM - 3PM

Who: Beginners who haven't stepped on a board, to intermediate riders who have an interest in new styles

Organized by riders from the Ottawa Docksessions, Concrete Cruisers, & Downhill longboarding crews

There will be a number of workshops running for new and intermediate riders. Find the workshop that is best suited for you:

  • Basic training for first time riders
  • Downhill beginner course for riders interested in learning how to slide
  • Surfskate beginner lessons led by community members
  • Basics of dancing and freestyle longboarding

Lessons will be led by experienced riders from the Ottawa Longboard surfskating, dancing and downhill communities.

Boards and sliding gloves will be available on-site for first time riders to try. Bring your own helmet!
